Baby on Board....

Around August, Jon and I found out officially that there will be a little addition to our family.  In February, Jon and I will be expecting a little boy.  We have decided to name him Tristan Gabriel.

Halloween and Ren Fest

Halloween was a busy week for Jon and I.  I started a temp job at the Marriott Hotel that week, so my days were filled with work.  Thursday night before Halloween, we held a Halloween themed Recipe exchange at the house.  The few days before, Jon and I pulled out the Halloween decor to have the house decorated for it.  The exchange turned out pretty well.  We had a good turn out and had mostly pumpkin flavored items.  I made pumpkin soup.  Others brought pumpkin bread, pumpkin chocolate chip cookies, muffins, and some other items.

Friday night we had a movie night with friends.  Jon and I rented out the small movie theatre in the apartment complex for the evening.  We watched Arsenic and Old Lace, and were able to bring together some new friends with some old friends.  I think everyone enjoyed the movie.

Saturday was very eventful.  We took off to the Houston Ren Festival to enjoy the music, the decor, the shops, and all.  We dressed up as pirates again and roamed around.

Afterwards we took off to the church's Trunk or Treat activity where Jon and I ran the judging for costumes, the pie eating contest, the pumpkin carving contest, and the decorating of the trucks.  It was so much fun to see every one dressed up.

Sunday after church, Halloween day, we visited with some friends and passed out candy.  It was nice to relax that evening after all the running around.  Next year though, I think we will need to have the big Halloween party again though.

Dad's 50th BIrthday

This year has been the year of big birthdays... Jon and I hit 30 and Dad followed by turning the big 5-0.  They had a Halloween themed birthday party for the occasion a weekend before Halloween weekend.  There was good food, good company, and good costumes.  We had fun going to New Orleans for the trip.

The Academy Awards Sonja Style

Happy Birthday to Sonja.  Her birthday party was themed the Academy Awards.  They had movie games and everyone was supposed to dress up as an actor or actress or a character from some movie.  It was very clever and a lot of fun.  There were four categories for costumes and Jon wound up winning 3 of them!  We didn't do so well on the movie quizes though!

Jon's Dad comes to America

Jon's dad flew over to Utah for his mission reunion and spent some time in Utah going through different temples there.  It sounded like he enjoyed his mission reunion and his temple trips.  He ventured further out as he came down to Houston for about 5 days and Jon and I were able to show him around.

We took a trip down to NASA.... "Houston, we have a problem."  They had a fun Lego exhibit and ofcourse we got to take the tram tour of NASA where they show you old mission control restored to the Apollo 13 days, the training center, and mission park.

Next we went to the Downtown Aquarium.  The aquarium was ok, the coolest parts were petting the sting rays and the white tiger.  The tiger was right up to the glass, you could look him in the eye.  It was rather cool.

The Houston Zoo came next.

We also went to the Houston Museum of Natural Science and the Houston Museum of Fine Arts.

Dinner with the family followed up our Sunday.
